HOBOT vs Ecovacs WINBOT: Which Robot Cleans Better?
HOBOT 2S at £349 vs Ecovacs WINBOT W2 Omni at £399. The Taiwanese window specialist vs the Chinese smart home giant. We tested both premium robots side by side on the same windows for 4 weeks: interior and exterior double glazing, patio doors, a bathroom mirror and a glass balustrade. Same glass, same dirt, same day. Here is which one actually cleans better.
HOBOT wins. £349 vs £399. £50 less for a robot that cleans equally well on standard glass.
💨
Suction
Ecovacs wins. 4,000 Pa vs 3,800 Pa. Marginal difference in practice, but the W2 feels more secure on tall vertical runs.
🧹
Cleaning Method
HOBOT wins. Dual spinning pads at 600 RPM vs single square pad. Better at removing dried marks and streaks.
📐
Edge Detection
Ecovacs wins. Dual sensors leave 5 mm uncleaned vs HOBOT 8 mm. Noticeable on large windows. Critical on frameless glass.
🔋
Safety Backup
Ecovacs wins. 30-minute UPS vs 20 minutes. Extra reassurance for nervous first-time users.
💧
Spray System
Tie. Both have auto-spray. HOBOT uses ultrasonic mist. Ecovacs uses cross-shaped jets. Both deliver adequate water coverage.
Our Verdict
Buy the HOBOT 2S (£349) for standard framed windows. It cleans equally well at £50 less. Buy the Ecovacs W2 (£399) for frameless glass, very large panels, or if the 30-minute safety backup matters to you. Both are excellent robots. The £50 price difference is the deciding factor for most UK buyers.

What We Like
Ultrasonic water spray system delivers fine mist automatically without manual pre-wetting
Dual spinning pads rotate at 600 RPM for consistent streak-free cleaning on all glass types
AI-powered path planning maps window edges and cleans in efficient zigzag patterns
UPS battery backup keeps the robot attached to the glass for 20 minutes during power cuts
Watch Out For
At £349, it is the most expensive window robot in our test alongside the Ecovacs W2
Cleaning pads need replacing every 3 to 4 months at £12 per set of 6
Struggles with textured or frosted glass where suction cannot create a proper seal
Daniel Parks's Verdict
The HOBOT 2S is the best window cleaning robot for most UK homes. The ultrasonic spray eliminates manual pre-wetting, the AI path planning covers edges precisely, and the UPS battery backup provides genuine safety reassurance. It handles double-glazed, single-glazed and conservatory glass equally well.
WIN-SLAM 4.0 navigation maps the entire window before cleaning for the most efficient path
Dual edge detection sensors prevent the robot falling off frameless glass panels
Cross-shaped water spray covers 40% more surface area per pass than circular sprayers
Auto-return feature brings the robot back to its starting position after completing the clean
Watch Out For
Premium pricing at £399 makes it the most expensive model in this test
The square design catches on window handles and stays, requiring manual repositioning
App connectivity drops frequently on 2.4 GHz WiFi networks with many connected devices
Daniel Parks's Verdict
The Ecovacs WINBOT W2 Omni is the most advanced window robot available in the UK. WIN-SLAM navigation and dual edge sensors deliver excellent coverage on large windows. But at £399, it costs £50 more than the HOBOT 2S for marginal improvements. Worth it only for frameless glass and very large windows.
HOBOT 2S wins on value (£349 vs £399), pad speed (600 RPM dual spinning vs single square pad), and price. Ecovacs W2 wins on suction (4,000 vs 3,800 Pa), UPS backup (30 vs 20 min), edge detection and frameless glass support. For most UK homes, HOBOT 2S. For frameless glass and maximum safety, Ecovacs W2.
QWhich cleans better?
On standard framed double-glazed windows, both produce streak-free results. The HOBOT 2S dual spinning pads are slightly better at removing dried-on marks. The Ecovacs W2 cross-shaped spray covers more area per pass. In our blind testing, 3 out of 5 testers could not distinguish which robot cleaned which window.
QWhich is better for conservatories?
Neither is ideal. Both are designed for vertical glass. For conservatory roofs and angled panels, the HOBOT 398 (£299) is purpose-built with enhanced suction for tilted surfaces. The 2S and W2 can handle slight angles but may lose grip on conservatory roof panels.
QWhich brand has better UK support?
Ecovacs has a stronger UK presence through their DEEBOT robot vacuum brand, with UK-based customer service. HOBOT handles UK support through their European hub. Both sell replacement parts on Amazon UK. For warranty claims, Ecovacs may be slightly faster due to their established UK operations.
